The special Examination to join the Indian army as an officer 

1. NDA ( National Defence Academy)

2. Combined Defence Services [CDS Exam] 

Through the CDS exam, one can join AFA, INA, IMA, and OTA

UPSC conduct CDS Exam is for the aspirants who are in the final year of graduation or have passed out of college. . Women can only join OTA Chennai through CDS Exam.

3. Technical Entry Scheme (TES) 10+2

Candidates who have passed the 10+2 exam with a minimum of 70% aggregate in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry are eligible to take the TES test. After passing the SSB and being cleared by the medical board, the candidate goes through a year of military training. Candidates undergo one year of post-commissioning training for the Arm/Service into which they are commissioned after being commissioned.

4. Technical Graduates Course (TGC)

Through this TGC exam, engineering graduates and postgraduates with a second division aggregate mark in their discipline can apply for Permanent Commission. Following the SSB, the chosen candidates must complete a year of pre-commissioned training before being commissioned. Engineering graduates who apply for this position will have a one-year head start on commissioning. Candidates are directly shortlisted for SSB interviews based on their percentile.

5. Short Service Commission (Technical) Entry. 

The SSB (Technical) Entry Scheme allows suitable technical graduates/post graduates to be recruited into Technical Arms. The selected candidates must go through pre-commission training after passing the Short Service Commission board and the Medical Board. They are commissioned as Short Service Commissioned Officers after completing their training.

6. NCC (Special Entry Scheme)

Through this scheme, the fresh graduate candidate can enter the commission. The candidate has an NCC certificate in the “c” category.

7. Judge Advocate General Entry

Law graduate candidates with a minimum 55% aggregate mark in LLB. the age between 21 to 27 years can apply for JAG Branch. Eligible candidates are called for a direct SSB interview thereafter. It is a Short Service Commission.

Medical Standards

Candidates must meet a variety of medical requirements. An applicant should have a good physical appearance as well mental health. It’s important to have a well-developed chest. Each ear of the recruiter should have normal hearing. They must have excellent binocular vision in both eyes.
