Passing Marks in CA Final
To pass the CA Final exams and become a Chartered Accountant, you need to score the minimum marks decided by ICAI.
For each paper, you need to get 40% marks.
Your total aggregate should be 50% marks. (If you appear in both the groups, you don’t need to necessarily score 50% in a group separately, your total average score for all eight papers will be considered.)

What are the Exemption rules of CA Final?
What does Exemption mean?
If you fail to get the minimum passing marks, yet you meet the exemption rules, you will be able to give exams in the next attempt only for the subjects in which you failed.
Conditions to get an exemption:
- You need to score above 60 marks in one or more papers.
- You must have given all the exams of a group(s).
The exemptions are valid only for the three next CA Final attempts. Another important point is that ICAI will cancel your exemptions if you have changed from the old course to the new course.
CA Final Merit List 2021
The students who perform the best in CA Final exams are included under the merit list. Only the top 50 students are selected for it. To check the CA Final Merit List May 2021, you should go to the ICAI websites where results are released. Log in with your ICAI account ID and password and see the CA Final merit list.
Verification/Inspection of CA Final Answer Copies
You can apply for verification/inspection of your CA Final answer copies if you believe the marks awarded to you do not justify your performance.
During the verification of your chosen answer copies, ICAI verifies any totaling error in your marks, or if the answer has remained unevaluated, or if the marks given inside are not correctly carried forward to the front page.
In the inspection of answer copies, the verification is done, and you also receive your answer sheet to self-inspect the marks.
Revaluation of answers is not done as ICAI guidelines prohibit it.
The applications are open for one month, and the complete application procedure is carried out online. If you wish to apply for the same, follow this process:
- Open https://icaiexam.icai.org/ and login to your dashboard.
- Click on the Apply button next to the link for the verification/inspection application.
- Now select the papers for which you believe your marks can improve and you want to apply for their verification by ICAI.
- Read the guidelines for submitting your application before moving forward.
- Deposit the application fee online and once the transaction is complete, take a print out.
Once the results are out within 6-8 weeks, ICAI will return your payment fee if the results are changed.
